Description

The Bees start work around the meadow in early spring when the weather starts to get warmer and they become active which is the time I begin to check the hives on a regular basis. I always make sure the Bees have enough space as I don’t want the Queen to suddenly decide to leave, taking the colony with her. Lovely Strensall Honey is extracted using a centrifuge and then lightly filtered (no other processing is needed). It’s then added to jars, ready to enjoy!

Lovely Strensall Raw Honey

I have 5 eyes, 4 wings, 6 legs and fly at 15mph buzzing @ 11,400rpm.
I have been around for at least 14 million years!
It took my sisters 41,000 flying miles to fill a jar of honey - 1oz will fuel me around the world - I made 1 teaspoon of honey before I died.
Look after me for I am Apis Mellifera, a honey bee; I am amazing!

Honey Meadow Bees are located on the outskirts of the beautiful City of York along the edge of the River Foss. The bees are looked after with respect and organically

Meet the B’eek of Honey Meadow – when not looking after bees Richard can be found working as a Railway Signalman and following his other passion which also has wings: hang gliding, a sport that takes him all around the world.
